Rutte: ‘Brainport region helps to give the Netherlands international appeal’

The Brainport Career Fair and the Brainport Innovation Seminar took place at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) on Wednesday 7 November as part of the economic mission being undertaken by a delegation from Brainport Eindhoven Region in the Turkish capital. Present at the seminar were Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Minister Lillianne Ploumen (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) and Mayor of Eindhoven Rob van Gijzel. During his speech the Prime Minister stressed the importance of Brainport Eindhoven Region for innovation: “It is due in part to the Brainport region that the Netherlands is now ranked 5th in the Global Competitiveness Index.” Rutte called on Turkish talent to go for an engineering career in the Netherlands.

NextOEM programme to be launched during the opening of the AEX stock exchange

On Tuesday representatives from the Brainport region will be opening the AEX stock exchange in Amsterdam. With the sounding of the gong at 9 o’clock precisely, they will launch the brand new NextOEM accelerator, a programme that searches for fast-growing high-tech companies with the potential to become an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with annual sales exceeding 100 million euros. A well balanced mix of coaching, knowledge transfer and attraction of venture capital will enable the ten best participants to realise their growth ambitions. The aim of the programme is to help create the next Philips or ASML.
