Examples of leading 'open innovation accelerators' are High Tech Campus Eindhoven and High Tech Automotive Campus in Helmond. High Tech Campus Eindhoven is 'the smartest square kilometre of the Netherlands’. Here, more than 90 companies and 8,000 researchers, developers and entrepreneurs are working together on the development of groundbreaking technologies and products.

Unique in Brainport Eindhoven region is also the intensive ‘triple helix' cooperation between trade and industry, knowledge and educational institutes and the authorities. This is the seedbed for many public-private (R&D) partnerships.
