Lab Solliance major boost for solar cell technology

Building activities start on High Tech Campus Eindhoven

On 15 april 2013 Heijmans Building Company started with the construction of the new Solliance laboratory at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. The building will house approximately 250 researchers and developers, seconded by the cooperation partners of Solliance. The Solliance consortium consists of TNO, TU/e, Holst Centre, ECN, imec and Forschungszentrum Julich and has a number of industrial partners. Solliance aims to take the thin-film solar cell technology further through improving the output of the cells and reducing the production costs.

Solliance Day: strong program and more participants

On Friday 14 December 2012 more than 130 visitors from industry, research institutes and government experienced the strong progress of Solliance. Speakers from Solliance, Industry, academic world and government presented new records on Organic PV,  Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) PV and Thin Film Silicon (Si) PV and also the economic opportunities for the PV sector in the region were covered with a focus on international cooperation. Slovakian president impressed by innovation power of Brainport

The president of Slovakia, Mr Ivan Gašparovič,was accompanied by a delegation of Slovakian ministers, companies and scientists during his state visit to the Netherlands from Tuesday 20 to Thursday 22 November. In the presence of Queen Beatrix, the delegation was given a demonstration of the new lighting technologies being developed in Brainport Eindhoven Region that offer solutions for the societal challenges of the future. During the state visit, it was made apparent that new lighting technology allows us, for example, to improve the quality of healthcare, save energy and boost safety in public areas as well as improve the learning of our children through smart classroom lighting.

NextOEM programme to be launched during the opening of the AEX stock exchange

Together in the quest for fast-growing companies

On Tuesday representatives from the Brainport region will be opening the AEX stock exchange in Amsterdam. With the sounding of the gong at 9 o’clock precisely, they will launch the brand new NextOEM accelerator, a programme that searches for fast-growing high-tech companies with the potential to become an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with annual sales exceeding 100 million euros. A well balanced mix of coaching, knowledge transfer and attraction of venture capital will enable the ten best participants to realise their growth ambitions. The aim of the programme is to help create the next Philips or ASML.
