Home to Tech & IT Talent
The Brainport Eindhoven Region has access to a large pool of English speaking knowledge workers in the fields of science and technology. As a preferred landing place for international talent, we aid in creating, fostering and nurturing their skills.
Attracting Tech & IT Talent
Our strong economy provides ample job opportunities for not just Dutch but also foreign workers. Therefore, the Brainport Eindhoven Region attracts lots of international knowledge workers. Year after year, the number of international workers has increased steadily, exceeding 10% of the total population of Eindhoven. As a High Tech & IT hub, companies are always keen to recruit the most talented individuals from around the globe for their breakthrough technologies and advanced knowledge-intensive industries. To stimulate the international growth, Dutch legislation helps, offering employers a range of contract possibilities to flexibly procure employees as well as expedite work formalities for foreign employees.
Creating Tech & IT Talent
Our educational system is modern and well connected to industrial needs and demands, both on a vocational and on an academic level. With 13 universities ranked amongst the 200 best in the world, The Netherlands ranks 4th, right behind the USA, UK and Germany. Eindhoven is home to 19.000 highly educated technical students and within a range of just 100km lies a pool of almost 70.000 technical students. The Eindhoven University of Technology is home to over 10.000 students. A unique part of this university is its ‘student teams’ of dedicated young minds, always aiming for the next technological record. These include the Solar Team, team BlueJay, which works on drone-technology, team FAST, who are building the world’s first car powered by formic acid and team STORM, which has developed the world's first electric touring motorcycle. Through innovative projects like these they prove to the world that it can be a faster, more efficient, safer and above all a sustainable place. Features such as creativity and critical thinking, paired with numerical and problem solving skills, often characterize talents within our region.
A Multilingual Community
The Netherlands ranks number one on Education First’s ranking of countries by English skills, a worldwide benchmark for measuring and tracking adult English proficiency. Almost 90% of the Dutch population speak English and over 75% speak German. In school we teach English and 2 other foreign languages, most often German and French. A substantial portion of Dutch media is in English, such as TV, books and advertisements. As a result, Dutch children pick up English quite easily at a young age.
Future-proof education on all levels
The schools in the Eindhoven region offer a wide range of education on every level, from manufacturing to technological research. We understand that design enables technology. The world-renowned Design Academy and the Industrial Design faculty of the Eindhoven University of Technology provide a strong foundation. The Design Academy Eindhoven is listed on the QS World University Ranking’s top 20 noteworthy places in Art & Design.
Competence-oriented education programs are central to the Dutch education system. In Eindhoven we take this one step further with Brainport Schools. Here, being practically engaged is a main focus in primary and secondary education and collaborations with the business community are made at a young age. This results in an enterprising, investigative and design-oriented learning method.
