In 2011, Brainport Eindhoven has been declared Intelligent Community of the Year 2011. After an exciting final the delegation led by Mayor of Eindhoven, Rob van Gijzel, and Helmond’s Councillor for Economic Affairs, Yvonne van Mierlo, received the award of the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). "This is a performance that our region can be proud of. It is fantastic to be chosen ahead of three hundred other regions and is a great boost for employment in our region."

Chips machines
The machines that produce 80% of the chips for our phones and laptops are created and made in Brainport Eindhoven Region.

Optical lens by ASML
This lens is a key component of the lighting system of the ASML lithography machine. The light is conducted by the lens and converged to illuminate the chips. The lens is manufactured by Zeiss.
Smart bibs
During the training of elite sportsmen it is vital that every training stimulus gets it right, both physically and tactically. Doing too little can be disastrous if fitness levels drop but too much can lead to overexertion. The PSV trainers use an aid that directly reveals the physical effort of the players.
Bulletproof skin
2.6g 329m/s is the name of this project; it is also the performance specification of bulletproof vests. 2.6g 329m/s are the maximum weight and velocity of a .22 caliber Long Rifle bullet for which a Type 1 bulletproof vest has to provide protection.
