TU/e again number 1 worldwide in research with industry

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has the strongest research cooperation with industry of all universities worldwide. This is shown by the ranking published this week by CWTS of Leiden University. Of all the university’s scientific publications, 15.6% are the result of research cooperation with industry. TU/e has been at the top of this ranking since the first edition in 2009.

Lab Solliance major boost for solar cell technology

Building activities start on High Tech Campus Eindhoven

On 15 april 2013 Heijmans Building Company started with the construction of the new Solliance laboratory at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. The building will house approximately 250 researchers and developers, seconded by the cooperation partners of Solliance. The Solliance consortium consists of TNO, TU/e, Holst Centre, ECN, imec and Forschungszentrum Julich and has a number of industrial partners. Solliance aims to take the thin-film solar cell technology further through improving the output of the cells and reducing the production costs.

Rheinbahn orders 60 VDL Citea LLEs

An excellent start to 2013 for VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland. On 2 January 2013 Rheinbahn of Düsseldorf officially awarded the contract for 60 low-entry buses to VDL Bus & Coach.“This is the largest order that VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland has ever won. A sign that the experiences with the first two buses have been extremely positive”, says a proud Boris Höltermann, public transport manager of VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland. In the spring of 2010 Rheinbahn put into service two predecessors of the LLE, the Ambassador, in order to gain experience with these vehicles for future bus purchases.

On 26 October 2012, during the 19th ITS World Congress in Vienna, TNO received the Industry / Technology iMobility Award for her contribution to the realization of the Dutch Cooperative Mobility Integrated Test Site (DITCM). The prize was presented to Joëlle van den Broek of TNO, on behalf of the consortium of DITCM by EU Commissioner mrs. Neelie Kroes. The iMobility Award is presented to a person or team that has played an important role in the rollout of iMobility systems in Europe.

Forschungszentrum Jülich and Solliance announce a new partnership in the field of thin film photovoltaics. Solliance is a cross-border initiative by ECN, imec, Holst Centre, TNO and TU Eindhoven. With Jülich as an additional partner, Solliance grows further as R&D cluster bringing thin film solar energy technology to excellence and is ramping up its activities to gain market share internationally. Some partner companies are successful global players in their segment already. The science and technology in this field are world class in selected areas, with a track record of 15 to 30 years.
