The Young Brainport Summer School (YBSS) challenges and enriches students (15-18 years of age) who have a keen interest in physics and technological developments through high-level theory, hands-on exercises and experiments, and social activities. YBSS gives students the opportunity to work with renowned professors and business leaders in the field and pays special attention to the applications of the theory by visiting knowledge and research institutes, labs and companies. The students will be actively guided throughout the week and live together as a group to create “a life-changing experience”.
YBSS offers a well balanced and challenging program consisting of:
High-level theory taught by renowned professors and business leaders that goes far beyond what is taught through traditional text books and courses in high school.
Small group research projects and cases that will stretch the students´ understanding of the physical world and how to convert the knowledge gained into new technological developments.
Exciting visits to research- and knowledge institutes, labs and companies to see and experience various applications of the theory in practice.
Social activities to get to know fellow students who think alike.
The students will be supervised throughout the entire week. During program hours, the students are supervised by the program coordinator. Outside of the program hours, they will be supervised by experienced supervisors. These supervisors will stay at the same accommodation as the students and plan and supervise a variety of evening and weekend social activities. Parents may contact the program coordinator should they need to reach students at any time during the summer school.
