The culture of close collaboration is rooted deeply in Dutch society; it’s a way of life. The Brainport Eindhoven Region and its model of Triple Helix collaboration are unique in this sense. Forbes and the Financial Times internationally recognize us for our integrated collaborative approach. The region has been honoured with a Eurocities Award for its close collaboration in 2010 and was voted Intelligent Community of the Year in 2011.

Eindhoven is among the leading European innovation hotspots within the EIT (European Institute of Technology) cooperation, hosting EIT’s innovation labs on ICT and Energy. We are home to TNO, Data Science Center Eindhoven (DCS/e), Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER), Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI), Embedded Systems Innovation, Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), Intelligent Lighting Institute, and TASS International.
Clusters & Campuses stimulate organic growth
The Eindhoven University of Technology Campus houses 10,000 technology and engineering students, with expertise in robotics, data science, nanotechnology and mobility. At the High Tech Campus Eindhoven – dubbed ‘the smartest square kilometre in the world’ – over 10,000 top researchers develop the products and applications of tomorrow. At the former Philips plants of Strijp S, a centre of creativity and design has been developed, functioning as a vibrant innovation district home to international companies such as Amazon, Gibson, and Bosch.
